National History Day is an inter-disciplinary research project where students grades 6-12 in the United States are taught a wide variety of skills including how to read and conduct research, write and present research topics, and how to use both primary and secondary sources. Each student who participates will choose a topic that relates to the annual theme and present their topic in one of the five presentation types: a research paper, an exhibit, a documentary, a performance, or a website. The theme for National History Day 2019 centers around triumphs and tragedies in history. After choosing their topic, students may enter their projects into History Day competitions all across the country.
